Velvet Revolver made one semi-decent album followed by one pile of shit and in amongst all that were some dull live performances. One of the best ever? Far from it imo.
Down are awesome though, they should be up there!
Superjoint Ritual weren’t bad either but I can’t remember who was all in that so might not be a supergroup…
The norwegian band I (yes, just the letter “I”), should be in the “best” group, imo. Containing members from Immortal, Enslaved and Gogoroth should definately make them a supergroup, and their only album so far, Between Two Worlds, is really great.

Down are a grey area. Are they really a supergroup? Or an awesome side-project who turned into an awesome full time band in their own right? It was subject of much debate over coffee and muffins/bacon sarnies in the Hammer office this morning.

Velvet Revolver are one of the worst supergroups.
Don’t think it counts but the album by Coverdale Page was really good. Is that a supergroup? The studio band put together for it was pretty steller so I guess you could consider it but it’s a long shot.
Me First & The Gimme Gimme’s was fun to start with but it lost it’s humour a loooong time ago.
Note to Metal Hammer staff: can you start another thread so people can post what they think would be their all-time fav supergroups? (you may want to contact your web server and loosen up some megabytes as this one could go on and on and on and…)
