We asked DevilDriver drummer John Boecklin what we can expect from the Californian metal titans set at this year’s Download festival!

How much are you looking forward to playing this year’s Download?

This year’s Download festival will be the biggest show of DevilDriver’s career. Period! That should sum up how pumped we are for this dance.

What’s your greatest memory from the Download festival?

We have played Download three times, twice in one weekend as a matter of fact. The best memory from all three shows was our circle pit the size of Africa in 2007. That moment made even made my mom say “Holy shit!”

Do you have any surprises or plans?

No surprises. Just me, the band, and my beard.

What’s the pros and cons to playing a festival set?

Pros – the free alcohol at the Live Nation tent and you always get to meet a real fuckin’ rock star that made you want to play music. Cons – Not having a Live Nation wrist band to get into the tent where all the real fuckin’ rock stars hang out and the alcohol is free.

Describe why people should come and see your set in 5 words.

Because we have the skills.
