We sat down for a quick chat with Malefice riot-starter, Dale Butler, to find out how much he was looking forward to slaying all who stand before him at Hammerfest in Prestatyn, North Wales on 11-13 March!
What are your expectations of Hammerfest?
Dale Butler: “Well we unfortunately couldn’t go last year due to band commitments, but after reading all the positive comments from everyone that attended, I’m expecting a beer fuelled weekend in north Wales. Our boys in DevilDriver are over for the weekend so of course we’re looking forward to meeting up with good friends, and doing what we do best. Getting drunk and shouting at strangers.”
What does it mean to you to be picked by Metal Hammer magazine?
Dale: “I’m not afraid to say Metal Hammer are the only magazine that has ever stuck by us throughout all of our career. You guys have covered us not because we’ve got wicked hair, but because you like our band and we fucking respect that. Metal Hammer is written by people that actually give a shit about music, and more importantly the U.K scene. For all of these reasons we’re proper chuffed to be asked to team up with you guys for an event that’s going to be fucking jokes!”
Have you got anything special lined up for the weekend?
Dale: “I think we’re going to let our fans pretty much pick our set. There’s going to be info up on our myspace about that in the next few weeks so if you want to get involved, please do. Otherwise, I think we’re just going to do our normal thing. Turn up, plug in and make people do sick shit in our pits. We should be about all weekend, checking out bands and partying, so if you see us walking about, make sure you buy us a drink and give us an arm wrestle, and just generally hang out!”
Have you got your drinking hat on for after you’ve played?
Dale: “Is Kid Rock a complete cunt?”
Is there anyone on the bill who you are going to make sure you see?
Dale: “DevilDriver and Suicidal Tendencies for sure. The whole bill is awesome so I’ll probably check almost everyone out if I’m honest. If you guys could book Faith No More for me, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!”
Hammerfest is headlined by Five Finger Death Punch and Suicidal Tendencies and will also feature DevilDriver (Spring Exclusive), Iced Earth (UK exclusive), Skindred, Napalm Death , Epica (Only UK Show), Katatonia and many, many more at Hammerfest II in Prestatyn, North Wales on 11-13 March, 2010!
