The Top 7 Nu-Metal Bands We’d Hate to Reunite

terrybezer / News / 13/02/2009 17:01pm

Limp Bizkit are back and Linkin Park are headliners at one of the biggest events of the summer so is nu-metal having a comeback? Check out Gill’s Nu-Metal blog and Beez’s take on the Limp Bizkit reunion!

Alien Ant Farm

We probably don’t need to give you a reason for this one but if you can see past their fat, gurning bass player (who is still the most annoying human being to step foot on a stage) then you’re a better person than we are.

Adema

Jonathan Davis’s little brothers band. Y’know when Korn went all dull and had all of those ploddy, boring songs that sounded all the same (listen to See You On The Other Side if you don’t)? Times that by a million and you get Adema. Adema played local shows in 2008. It does NOT need to go beyond that.

Coal Chamber

Dez is doing very well without ‘Spookycore’, thank you very much.

Slaves On Dope

No, no, no, no, no, no, no.

Crazy Town

Remembering Shifty Shellshock may make you want to put a coat-hanger through the eye of your dick. Don’t believe us? Ladies and gents, we bring you ‘Butterfly’.

The Union Underground

They attempted to bring a Ministry/White Zombie slant to Nu-Metal. They failed. Just because you play music while looking like a bad ass bunch of cyber-vampires, it doesn’t mean that we won’t notice that you have zero in the ways of ideas, songs or talent.

Apartment 26

Rock star children are never the most successful musicians and Biff ’son of Geezer’ Butler was no exception to that rule. Besides, Nu-Metal coming outta da southside of the ghetto that is Leamington Spa was never going to set the world ablaze, was it?

The Toad

I seem to remember all of these getting favourable coverage in Metal Hammer at the time – It’s interesting how times change!

terrybezer

We’ll throw our hands up at some of those but when did you ever see us say ‘yes, Crazy Town. Taste it, it’s the future’? Come on now, holmes. :-)

Alien Ant Farm re-united last year lol..

looking back on the crap nu metal churned out i have to admit that maybe the bizkit reunion isnt the worse thing to happen to us lol

terrybezer

No album since 2006 + no live dates since last May = AAF reunion fail.

Ian McWilliams

The Union Underground’s only song was Across The Nation which was used as the theme tune to WWE RAW.

They also had “Turn Me On Mr Deadman” Ian McWilliams. It was on a free video in an issue of Metal Hammer years ago. And are that shit band Papa Crotch still doing the rounds(another band doing a WWE Raw song)?

im sorry but Adema are a great band. the only album that truly sucked was Planets when they lost all their melody. but the new album, Kill The Headlights, kicks major ass and is far better than the first 2 albums.

The Union Underground had an amazing album. i listen to it all the time.

And as great as Coal Chamber were, no one wants to see Dez leave Devildriver.

I really enjoy “..An Education In Rebellion”, it’s a fantastic album.

Then again, I guess the article is called “The Top 7 Nu-Metal Bands WE’D Hate to Reunite”, my opinion merely differs from Hammer’s :P

The Toad

I’ll give you Crazytown – I don’t think anybody sane went in for them.

Give it it ten years and people will be prattling on about Nu-metal in the same way that people go in for thrash or clkassic rock now.Hell, if Tygertailz can still have a career, anything’s possible!

Real Metaller

Metal Hammer loves those bands really. They just want to look “cool” by slagging them off.

craig hartwell

people diss away but c’mon i hate crazytown and shit but its gotta be better than this trivium, avenged sevenfold, madina lake bullshit at least men dressed as men

Oli The Pig Farming Naturist Carrot

Like tenacious D, or Bowling for soup!

They’re WAY not serious man!

Alien Ant Farm are what kids listen to BEFORE they get into real music!

and Im a “Hardcore” death metal fan, loving Cannibal corspe and Deicide and all that, BUT, I LOVE LIMP BIZKIT TOO!

So a big FUCK YOU to everyone else.

hmm u guys obviously dont respect wot dez done wit coal chamber! coal chamber are an amazing band it was a shame to see them go!! :( The union underground were a class act too, slightly industrial metal too! id love ne of them 2 bands to b reformed! U’d prob dis SPINESHANK too if u culd ay guys?? who have recently reformed!! its great, Bring back the good stuff!!!

BlakNo1

“yes, Crazy Town. Taste it, it’s the future’?

LOL bigtime! : )

Ian McWilliams

What do I need to get my facts straight about jackass. Whatever happened to Liverpool Nu Metal band Number One Son.

These bands may well be total shite but I’d still rather listen to them than 90% of music you hear on the radio or TV. No point knocking these dudes. At least they’ve got off their asses, formed a band, written some, er, music (obviously I’m in a generous mood) and their hearts are in the right place. The thing that’s most annoying about these outfits is that they have been classified ‘metal’. Stop that nonsense and nobody would have a problem with them. Howabout ‘Hard Pop’.

Sorry, but Turn Me On Mr Deadman and South Texas Deathride are good tunes. Doesn’t mean I’m saying Union Underground were any good as a whole, but those tunes are ace in a club. That’s the thing with most Nu-Metal (Deftones and KoRn aside, although I’d hardly class Deftones as Nu-Metal really), I don’t like most of it normally, and wouldn’t listen to it, but there are a lot of really good club tunes which came out of it (Break Stuff, Black and White, Loco, Sway etc.) I defy anyone to say they don’t dance like a maniac if they come on in a club.

Jackolas

Make your mind up Metal Hammer.

Maybe in a few years you will be saying this about all the mallcore and even Kill Switch Engage, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

Christy Rodgers

I know I might get some hatemail for this, but I think AAF are alright.

I’m sorry but nu-metal should die out now. I listen to real metal. Or maybe the “rock-heads” should adopt nu-metal from us metal-heads and call it something like shit-rock or something like that.

Haha, i have to admit i really liked Union Underground…and then they totaly vanished.

But good Lord…Crazy Town…hell, even then i loaaaaathed them. C’mon…’Revolving Door’ managed to degrade and devolve everyone who listened to it.

At least Papa Roach changed with the times. They did one nu-metal album then became hard rock. Not my cup of tea but hey, good for them!

Ares Wölf

neither Limp Bizshit
neither Pappa Roach
none of the all nu metal, brothers!!!

haben Sie schöner Tagesbrüder!!!

Ares Wölf, Bleigitarre von Warwolf

The Dude

Crazy Town reunited, lolz!

man korn will always be tha best in my eyes

I Love LB … they’re just creative band. Not like the others mentioned on the top of this page

hey sorry but i just gotta throw this out there but in case u havent noticed nu metal is the shittest music evr. its a disgrace to even hav the word metal at the end. nu metal is jst 1 bigass joke.

about half of those bands you named are still together for one and two damn near allof them i like. who cares if you dont like nu-metal? i liked it and i i grew up on it. so fuck you and your opinion. crazytown can fuck off. but you say korn, slaves on dope, adema, coal chamber, and union underground should not reunite? i would love to see them live again. and you comment about union underground trying to look cool in cyber vampire shit well at least they are not trying to look cool sitting at a computer all day with his fist in his ass. plus kast i checked they are playing rap on mtv and mtv2. at least back then they cared about metal. so go to fall out boy and my chemical romance they will suit your life just fine. whiny bitches
