Tony Iommi: “Heaven And Hell Might Play Ozzy-Era Sabbath Songs”
BostonHerald.com are reporting that Black Sabbath/Heaven And Hell guitarist Tony Iommi admits that Heaven And Hell might play some earlier Sabbath songs:
On his riff-writing ability:
“I stockpile them [riffs] at home. I’ve got a hundred of them stashed away, but I never go back to them. Every time I go to write an album, they come more fast and furious then before.”
On the Dio-era Sabbath:
“A lot of bands, like Metallica and Foof Fighters, really relate to those Dio albums. I think Dave Grohl has said one of his favorite albums is ’Mob Rules’ [1981]. A generation of bands like that have taken to this stuff, and it’s trickled down to the fans.”
On performing only Dio-era Sabbath songs as Heaven And Hell:
“We love ‘War Pigs’ and ‘Iron Man’ and ‘Paranoid’, but we’ve played those for 40 years so it’s been a nice change. Maybe next year we’ll do some of the old stuff.”

I’d rather hear Dio sing Dio, not Dio sing Ozzy.
That’s cool and all, but I’d rather they didn’t. One of the reasons they made this group was the play the Dio songs. If they were going to play Ozzy songs they might as well take the Black Sabbath name rather than making a new group (and someone kick Ozzy out). Come on, when I see Heaven & Hell I want to hear the Dio songs. I want to hear The Mob Rules and Children of the Sea not Paranoid and Iron Man.
It’s a shame they didn’t play at least one Ozzy-era here in Argentina. People would have freaked out!!!!!!

Tony wrote the riffs, Geezer also wrote them, they got all the right in the world to play them. Dio sang them better too.
And I want to see that bitch Sharon throw her toys out of the pram so what’s not to like about this idea?
Oh dear… it’s cool if Dio’s ok with it but if not, I hope it doesn’t lead to any rifts developing again. I’d hate to see them part ways again. I remember how pissed off I was after the Dehumanizer era split!
