Considering most of his material is heavier than a bag of bowling balls, we’re not sure what to expect from Corey Taylor’s acoustic set at this year’s Sonisphere festival but here’s what we’d like him to play…
1. Vermillion pt.2
The acoustic version of Vermillion is a highlight on ‘Volume 3: The Subliminal Verses’ and would definitely be a killer addition to Corey’s setlist.
2. Orchids
Is it just us or would those epic vocal lines lend themselves to a great acoustic rendition? You know like on American idol where they change the arrangements on a song to make it all different? No? Well, it would be kind of like that.
3. Made Of Scars
See the above reasons. The original may be a heavy grooving slab of hard rock but Corey’s vocal melodies are so versatile, you can just imagine them translating brilliantly to a more basic format.
4. Purity
This eerie off-cut from Slipknot’s slef-titled masterpiece is a haunting, sinister track with a chorus that’s just made to be belted out by thousands of people.
5. Bother
Along with Through the Glass, it’s probably the most obvious choice, isn’t it? It’s always a highlight when Taylor attacks it acoustically during a Stone Sour set and it’s almost certain to be heard this weekend at Knebworth.

Sonisphere will be headlined by Metallica and Linkin Park and will take place on August 1st – 2nd at Knebworth. Also on the bill will be Heaven & Hell, Nine Inch Nails, Bullet For My Valentine, Avenged Sevenfold, Lamb Of God, Alice In Chains, Mastodon, Anthrax, Airbourne, Corey Taylor and Killing Joke.

I’m not going, because I can’t, but definitely Snuff. But I also love Gehenna and Stone Sour’s “Reborn.” All of those are awesome songs, but “Cardiff” is cool, too.

Snuff would be a pretty obvious as it already IS acoustic. Personally I hate the song but I am sure it would be a monumental crowd-pleaser.
