Top 9 Things About Last Night’s Slayer Album Launch Party
200 crazy metalheads crammed into London’s Centro to hear Slayer’s new album, ‘World Painted Blood’. Here were our top 9 things to have happened at the launch.
1. We were in the door precisely 12 seconds before we heard the first “FUCKIN’ SLAYAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!!” scream of the evening.
2. As the first riff of the album kicked in, Centro’s toilet attendant let out a frightened yelp. Magic.
3. The reaction of everyone in the room when Kerry King showed up. Think about the clips of screaming folk during Beatlemania (except with better dress sense and killer beards).
4. The new album is absolutely everything you’d want from a Slayer record. In the land of the thrash, Slayer remain king.
5. The album was played so ridiculously loud that it could make your ears bleed. Someone even complained it was ‘too loud’. We told them to GTFO.
6. Girls in tight orange dresses handing out lashings of free Jager. The Metal Hammer office is decidedly quiet this morning.
7. We’ve found out the album’s release date. It’ll be with us on November 3rd.
8. We talked to people who had travelled the length of the country (and one dude came all the way from Latvia!) to hear the album. That’s dedication!
9. As we were leaving the venue, Kerry King had a car waiting but was signing autographs for around 20 people. No trying to get away from his fans, he was standing and chatting to all of them. The man is an absolute legend.
Slayer will release ‘World Painted Blood’ on November 3rd. Kerry King told Metal Hammer that Lars Ulrich may be plotting a Big Four tour for next year! Get the full story here!

The album is fucking choice and the people who say its shit are the ones who were prob moshing and enjoying it last night but decide to moan and complain when they can voice their opinion on an internet site but in real life would be kissing ass.
Thought the new album was very good,played at a very ear splitting volume.the organisational skills of last night were diabolical.Free bar lasted all of 10 minutes,standing outside in the pouring rain well after we were meant to be inside,and the bunch of Obnoxious bouncers thinking they were more important than anyone who had won this competition and were not metal in the slightest,but finding a VIP wristband on the floor and me plus 3 of my friends using it to meet Kerry King made the evening

I had a quality time and am privileged to be one of the first to hear the new album. Not 100% impressed though, and I’m a big Slayer fan. The whole middle section of the album is vintage Slayer, but there are one or two average tracks in there.
Diablo, learn how to structure a fucking sentence. I used to love slayurgh but you quickly grow out of that shit. There’s not really an 80’s thrash band that still matter to me. Just thought I’d drop a wee note before I throw myself off that cliff. God knows people like you make me want to actually do it sometimes. If you want something that sounds really evil go listen to homegrown talent like the axis of perdition. Stop stealing our air.
Dude, I’m not looking for “something that sounds really evil”, I’m a Slayer fan so want to hear them! This is no kid hear, I’m what you’d call a veteran!! And I still like 80’s thrash, it’s close to my heart as it got me through a lot of shit. I just didn’t understand the “ass-less leather chaps” comment. Are they gay now??? Anyway if I wanted something evil sounding I’d prefer Anaal Nathrakh or Gorgoroth.

wish I’d hung about after I did manage to get Dave’s autograph tho and shook Kerry’s hand, I think the album sounded quality just need to hear it at my leisure now to let it sink in properly \m/ \m/ Fuckinnnnnnnnnnnng SLAYERRRRRrrrrrrr!!!!
