Top Ten Candidates To Replace Zakk Wylde In Ozzy’s Band
Though it’s yet to be made official, it can’t be denied that Zakk Wylde’s standing in Ozzy Osbourne’s band is far from firm right now. We discuss which ten guitarists could potentially replace him as the Double O’s right-hand man.
1. John 5
Having been mentioned by the man himself, John 5 has to be a leading candidate for the job. He’s arguably the best axeman that Marilyn Manson’s ever had and the only stumbling block could be that he remains part of Rob Zombie’s current line-up.
2. Robin Finck
With touring grinding to a halt very soon for Nine Inch Nails, Finck could soon be looking for a job. He’s had to contend with Axl so working with Ozzy would be a walk in the park!
3. Gus G
The man born Kostas Karamitroudis has played with Firewind since 1998 and may fancy a new challenge in the near future. That and he looks f’n cool when he plays one of those Dimebag-shaped guitars!
4. Dave Navarro
Though the Jane’s Addiction reunion is in full swing, there has been no talk of a new studio record from the Jane’s folks. Could this open the door for Ozzy and Navarro to be a killer celebrity duo?
5. Steve Vai
He’s certainly got the chops for the job! He’s also been part of the Whitesnake fold and he’s backed up Dave Lee Roth before so he knows what it’s like to be a hired gun.
6. Metal Mike
Speaking of hired guns, Seb Bach and Halford are on the CV of Mike Chlasciak aka Metal Mike.
7. Scott Ian
We’re more into the idea of Scott Ian sticking put with Anthrax and getting John Bush back in the band but he’s worth a mention nonetheless. Show your support here and Bring Back Bush!
8. Ace Frehley
Classic Rock suggest that his new single is a belter but if the solo thing doesn’t work itself out, could the Space Ace join Ozzy on the road? It’d be a recipe for complete disaster, wouldn’t it?
9. Tony Iommi
Only kidding.
10. He doesn’t get rid of Zakk.
The guy is an out-and-out riff machine who blazes solos like nobody else and has one of the most distinctive guitar sounds in modern rock. There’s still time to resolve this, guys!

I’d love to hear what Roy Z could get out of him. Great player and an excellent producer to boot.
Not Dave Navarro, please!
Keep Zak, nobody compares!
Steve Stevens!!!!!
Scott Ian dosen’t play lead anyway so no.
Wes Borland!
Jon Donais
talk about taking a s**t on the legend that is Mr Zakk hammer.
With bad taste like that no wonder you lot gave down III 10/10

Screw Firewind, Gus! You’re needed elsewhere
Gus G!!!!
And Viking he can play at Firewind and with Ozzy at the same time!!!
Slash! He’s the man!
This is a really great top ten list, but I agree, NO DAVE NAVARRO, he would ruin it. Anyone can post their own list to our site http://www.toptentopten.com/. The coolest feature is you can let other people vote on the rankings of your list.
Zakk should stay. However, if Oz is looking for new blood, he should do what he did the first time round – bring in a 20 year old unknown whizzkid guitarist looking for a big break. Someone who can pull off the catalogue material and has something to new to bring to Ozzy music. Randy, Jake & Zakk were all pretty much unknowns at their time of recruitment.
But, let’s face it, those are 3 mighty big pairs of boots to fill. Just keep Zakk. He knows the score
