Trent Reznor has some less than complimentary things to say about ticket touts. Get your Sonisphere tickets here!

Trent Reznor has expressed his opinions on the growing problem of ticket scalpers. This news comes days after Reznor attacked Chris Cornell through his Twitter.

“As we approach on-sale dates for the upcoming tour, I’ve noticed lots of you are curious / concerned / outraged at the plethora of tickets that somehow appear on all these reseller sites at inflated prices – even before the pre-sale dates. I’ll do my best to explain the situation as I see it, as well as clarify my organization’s stance in the matter.

“Here’s the rub: TicketMaster has essentially been a monopoly for many years – certainly up until Live Nation’s exclusive deal ran out. They could have (and can right now) stop the secondary market dead in its tracks by doing the following: limit the amount of sales per customer, print names on the tickets and require ID / ticket matches at the venue. We know this works because we do it for our pre-sales. Why don’t THEY do it? It’s obvious – they make a lot of money fueling the secondary market. TicketMaster even bought a re-seller site and often bounces you over to that site to buy tickets (TicketsNow.com)!”

Sonisphere will be headlined by Metallica and Linkin Park and will take place on August 1st – 2nd at Knebworth. Also on the bill will be Nine Inch Nails, Bullet For My Valentine, Avenged Sevenfold, Machine Head, Lamb Of God, Alice In Chains, Mastodon, Anthrax, Airbourne, Thin Lizzy, Killing Joke and The Sword.

The man talks sense!!

I agree with you sir

Concentrate on making music, twat.

What a fucking response, “me”. He has every right to be concerned about ticket touts and their greed. It’s good to know that Reznor isn’t in it to rip off his fans.

All he’s concerned about is how that extra money isn’t lining his pocket.

Truth be told, I agree with him, was just in a twat of a mood earlier and it just seemed like another of his rants. Is it me or is he suddenly getting very openly opinionated?

I don’t know why more people don’t take “direct action” with touts. I went to see the Ramones at Brixton Academy on their farewell tour and saw a tout get to absolute shit kicked out of him by some punkers he was trying wise-off with. He got given a total hiding and the guys took his tickets and calmly walked into the venue. Not a single person went to the touts aid, fuckin’ funny it was!!

As long as people may the distinction between someone who is buying a shitload of tickets to flog them and someone who gets let down by people and is trying to just get their money back (been there…), then i don’t really see a problem with that at all Skumbo.

*make the distinction…

godzy89

completely in agreement with him
fucking annoying when all i could get was tickets at the very back for the upcoming dc show at the men when i know touts will be outside selling better tickets
as a footnote this very web page advertises what is, in my opinion, a tout site with these twats at viagogo
should be closed down and banned

I think it would be pretty obvious to most concert goers who would be a scalper and who is just trying to off load an unwanted ticket. I’ve been in that position (trying to flog a spare) and usually it’s a matter of going into the nearest pub to the gig and just asking the punters if anyone needs a face-value ticket. The arseholes march up and down the pavement yelling out “buying and selling tickets, anyone buying or selling…”.

Think about it: how many touts are outside a gig? 15 to 20? And how many people at a sold-out Brixton or Wembley? It’s pretty obvious who’s got the muscle and back-up.

Could you imagine the carnage and bloodshed if (God forbid) Slayer ever announce a final tour and it sold-out and some smartarse prick tried to shaft a load of pissed off and desperate headcases who do anything to get a ticket!! I’d pay good money to see that.

I agree, but then there should be room to change names on the tickets incase you cant go after all, who knows, maybe you crashed your car and have to be hospitalized for a long time, or must go to Hawaii with your parents?
Then you might want to give or re-sell the ticket to a friend for a decent prize.
ofcourse there should be a strickt procedure to do that.

Fair enough for those who genuinely can’t go – put them up at face value – it’s the leeches who are profiteering – viagogo – ‘for real fans’ – rich fans more like. And many gigs not as sold out as they lead you to believe. I use needtickets.com – search engine only lists tickets from official sources selling at face value – production seats and tickets put back in the pot from the ‘VIP’ packages that can’t be sold often appear.

[...] Label execs are not the only ones to feel Reznor’s wrath recently – as Chris Cornell found out, via Reznor’s Twitter tirade – Ticket touts have also found themselves in the firing line. [...]
