Opeth track will be far better

fucking good effort, you cant expect to much from a song thats just going on a computer game imo

Threatening to move too close to deathcore here. Good chorus though.

Dull song. Sick of bands changing whenever they go down the pan.

Their second Roadrunner release – Matt Heafy went on and on about how screaming was dumb and he only did it on the previous album to win over the heavier fans but from now on he won’t be screaming and shouting cos everyone does that. His shit James Hetfield impression didn’t make them superstars so the shouty bits came back pretty quickly but it was too late cos the album after that was dull too so now they’ve tried putting a (terrible) blast beat in the middle of a track and it just sticks out like a sore thumb both cos it doesn’t fit and it’s played really badly! In an attempt to make them seem more “metal”.

Goodbye Trivium, you had one good album, now step aside and let some decent bands have the stage.

I enjoyed that! It’s nice to see them do something a little heavier.

Perhaps you are right “Divided” however did you ever think this might be a push from roadrunner? After all their second album (the one everyone knows) was their first with roadrunner and was already toned down alot from the first.

corey’s guitar during the solo is sexy

@ coops

Of course its going sound just like trigger the bloodshed next week isn’t it *rolls eyes*

That would be an amazing song if it wasn’t for the annoying clean vocals. They take away from the heaviness of the track big time. I think they’re seriously confused over what genre they want to play. I just wish they’d make their minds up! I don’t think they’ll ever top Ascendancy wish is a pity cos they had so much potential!

Divided

I thought Ascendancy was really good (the first with roadrunner) then the 2nd one The Crusade? was devoid of shouty bits and basically sounded like they’d attempted to “sell out” to make the big bucks but at the same time they slated all the shouting stuff saying it was crap but when it didn’t work they went back to the shouty stuff hoping people would forget what they had said.

Sorry I just can’t stand bands that do that kind of thing, bands that aren’t true to themselves, they’d rather change their sound to be famous than play good honest music.

@Diablo I thought they kind of did with Shogun…

If I wanted to listen to a song with all screaming/growling, no clean vox I’d listen some death metal, this on the other hand is Trivium, and I think Matt’s voice is possibly at it’s peak, seeing as he can scream AND sing well now without fucking up hsi vocal chords.

Granted he’s no Corey Taylor or Howard Jones, but he’s gotten better, least he’s dropped the Hetfield-ilism :P

ah people quit bitching
trivium are ace get over it. Their writing more interesting music then most other bands nowadays
and divided you obviously have no music sense if you think they havent wrote a decent album since ascendancy…shogun was brilliant

Joel – you think they topped Ascendancy with Shogun?? Again I thought it had potential to be a a great album but I thought that the clean vocals ruined it. I’m not looking for them to become a straight up death metal band just choose a bloody genre and stick to it!!
Agree about the Hetfield-isms, nice to see them gone but I think he’s a poor “normal” singer.
Anyway didn’t he say a couple of years back that he had damaged his voice and couldn’t do the gruff vocals anymore??

Wow, lots of hate for Trivium. This song kicks ass in my opinion; great riff, ultra catchy chorus and epic solo. I think people just rip on these guys cause it’s fashionable.

everyone just hates trivium because they’re popular, fact is they are one of the biggest modern metal bands out there and sell millions of albums
they are a quality band and this song is them at their best :)

I fucking love Shogun, I can’t see why people always have issues with that album. What fascinates me about Trivium is their great ability to combine heavy and melodic elements, which they showed again with Shattering. Although I’d only rate Shattering average, because I miss the shouted (not screamed) vocals and the vocal harmonies in the chorus are a bit different to get used to. However, the instrumental side of that song is ace, just listen to the solos! I only play guitar and bass, so I’m not the big drum-expert, but to my ears they sound good and fit to the song. Yeah, I like it.
only the lyrics are a bit shallow, yet appropriate for a game-soundtrack.

Sadface it’s gone already. Damn you copyrighters
