Internet speculation suggests that Travis Smith has left Trivium. Get Trivium tickets here!
According to internet reports, Trivium and drummer Travis Smith have gone their separate ways. The band have been touring with drumming roadie Nick Augusto handling drumming duties while Smith attended to ‘personal business’.
It’s worth pointing out that this is yet to be officially confirmed by Trivium themselves but we expect word on this soon.
Trivium come to the UK for a full tour in March. Get Trivium tickets here!

Shit! I’m going to see ‘em at Soundwave, too… I hope this isn’t true.
Who fucking cares.
Well considering he is a pretty damn good drummer and I’m seeing them in Inverness next March, ME that’s fucking who!
how weird i just google this could find nothing conclusive so went and refreshed my facebook page only 2 c a link 2 here lol he better not hav left the band man hes fucking amazing, iv heard rumours he was taking a break because he got married hopefully this is the case, i honestly cant think of another drummer that could fill in 4 him he has a very unique style
Trivium turned shit after the crusade
yawn yawn its fuckin trivial trivium who gives a shit thats over the age of 12!!!!!
i agree with you joel he is a good drummer but.. it will sound exactly the same with nick augusto drumming so no worries man
he’s is a pretty good drummer
not a fan, but he’s a pretty decent drummer. Would be more interested to see where he goes/what he does if he has quit.
If you dont like trivium.
Dont fucking comment, you dick heads.
I’m not denying he’s a good drummer just who the fuck cares about Trivium any more?$? Thats over 15 I mean!!
Nick is a great drummer but hope this aint true!!
I hope not!
Travis kicks ass!
I’m over 12 and I like Trivium! Each to their own mate but as said further up if you don’t like then don’t come on and post shit like that. Just makes you seem like a knob!
On subject a shame if that’s the case but bands do part with members all the time.
@ Diablo: I do. I’m 19 and I like Trivium, is that such a crime? Don’t be a dick about things, if you don’t like them then why bother commenting?
Anyways, the guy is an awesome drummer, be a shame if its true about him leaving but as others have pointed out when they perform live then it’ll sound the same as Travis.
Well said Myers.
I love trivium, im 16. I just appreciate what they do.
If you dont like trivium, dont comment on this page. Simple as.
“yawn” mediocre drummer anyway
dont u lads have any homework to do lol
Major bugger. Travis is one of the most technically proficient drummers. He manages to bring the whole album together. Don’t know who could be a suitable replacement. The only drummers I can think of are Kevin Talley and possibly Roy Mayorga. Roy is gonna be busy with the new Stone Sour album so he’s out.
Firstly I’m 20 and although I agree in saying The Crusade wasn’t their best effort, that does not automatically mean that every album afterwards will be shit, Shogun certainly proved that it’s possible, with every band/artist for that matter, that although they may have their dips in popularity or creativity they can clench back eventually!
And mediocre drummer!?
What the hell are you on – he’s better than that!
Although considering it’s drums don’t suppose it will matter too badly if he has left, unlike if it was say Matt or Corey.
I’m slightly older and just got sick of Trivium. Seen em live at least four times and they got progressively worse. That’s why I don’t care about em any more!
Uh I am 21 and I care. They’re fuckin ace. I don’t care if you like them, but set aside prejudice – they are all awesome at their instruments. Accept at least that. And Travis is a great drummer, listen to Shogun and see yourselves.
im sorry but i dont care who you are, trivium are a talented young band. The crusade was an amazing album just cos it didnt have the same kinda hits on it as ascendancy doesnt mean it wasnt any good. shogun is an outstanding album, like them or not. TRAVIS SMITH IS A FUCKING INSANE DRUMMER. end of. will be a shame to lose to him. as for their live performances, go and and see them now. they are the greatest they have ever been
he is a great drummer and the only decent album they churned out was Ascendency. everything after has been pretty shit. they need to go back to their old sound.
If he leaves Trivium,
he may well never play live across the world with a band of that calibur for a long while.
As a die hard fan, i can only hope for the best for him, but its a serious mistake.
I have just turned 27 and i appreciate Trivium, Shogun is an exceptional album.
YES shogun is a great album, so whoever says they turned shit after the crusade is talking out their ass.
I’m 19 and have no homework to be doing; Brucifer, you’re a shithead of the highest order and kindly act your age, not your shoe size
(If you are indeed as old and veritable as you’re trying to act)
I’m sorry to see Travis go; he was probably the most talented one…
It’s sad to see travis go (if this is true), I hope he stays because he is an exceptional drummer.
Damn this to be true! If it is true, I’m not going to go and see Trivium in March, and it will be epic dissapointment. Travis is brilliant.
ive listened to trivium since ember to inferno came out and yeah the crusade wasn’t anywhere near acendency or ember to inferno but to be fair shogun was an awsome come back from an album which obviously cause some fans to dislike them but just cuz you don’t like one album doesn’t mean you have to hate to band but thats my opinion if you wanna be a dick fuck off somewhere where people don’t like trivium and bitch!
But Travis is a sick drummer be gutting if he leaves
I’m 17, turning 18 this week, and yeah i like Trivium, does that make me non-metal, cause if so then your saying that when i’ve seen Def Leppard, listen to Maiden, Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth, Machine Head etc etc
You don’t like a band, big deal?
Okay so there crowd base is relatively youngsters who haven’t quite reached the realms of proper thrash, but that doesn’t mean everyone who likes em is young.
And to the “homework” comment, last i checked 16 is leaving age so shut it you stupid twat
il join in lol
im 20 and love bands lik behemoth, chimaira, devildriver, machine head, deicide, amon amarth, testament ect but i like trivium and their music a whole lot more than any of the others .I think they have a big future ahead of them.
however seeing travis go would royally suck as iv been a fan for 5 years and never expected a band that seemed soo close to get to that stage.
TriViuM is my all time favourite band (same with Machine ‘fukin’ Head) and Shoguns the best album of all time so complex and just fukin amazing. and i dealt Travis is leaving, TriViuM is his band (MKH came after travis) eventhough Matt is i guess the model for TriViuM. Travis didnt continue the tour with TriViuM because of family relationship problems. but you never no. im still going to support TriViuM anyway and i hung out with them when they came to the West Ed in Canada with Shaun Glass from Dirge Within, it was a blast, and Nick is extemely nice,
@Bodz, i would agree with Roy
hes kikass
Though I loved Travis’ drummer (he has some amazing footwork), I’ve seen Nick perform live with Trivium, and I can say, he’s nothing short of brilliant!
YouTube him playing with Trivium, or better yet, try to see them live, cause you’ll see he can easily hold his own in that band, bringing his own style.
Nevertheless, if the rumours are true, then Travis, you will be missed.
That suxs, Trivium’s finished now…
There seems to be a lot of negativity towards Trivium. I’m not really a fan, but nor do I dislike them. If I hated a band that much, I wouldn’t bother commenting on threads about them. I’d just ignore it.
I’m not too happy about this, even though I’m not a fan of Trivium. Pretty close to the opposite, but I have my reasons.
I saw them tear shit up at Download 2005, and I went mental in the dusty circle pits to “Pull Harder…”, just like everyone else. I came home full of eager anticipation, and bought their album as soon as I could. I started with the only track I knew, followed by the track that was recommended (Gunshot). Martyr sounded just as vicious on record as it did live, I was impressed. Trepidation seemed to lack the venom.
Undaunted, I gave the album a play through, and I was left bitterly disappointed. I feel that the agression that drew me to their music in the first place was lost after “Pull Harder…”, and then The Crusade came out, and they just went further downhill.
Once I was a fan, now I can’t stand them, with the exception of one song.
Sing it with me now – “Boat! Rudder! Strange Mountain!”
Trivium are very talented, if you claim that Shogun is shit you have either/are either
a) Not Listend to It
b) An Ignorant Fuck
c) A Chav
d) Following the trend.
Simple as that.
BRING BACK TRAVIS!!!!
WE WILL MISS HIS DOUBLE BASE!!!!
>:(
Trivium, were good, until they started chasing the dollar a bit too much.
I hope the drummer, forms a new band that focuses on dignity. not $$$.
firstly everyone in trivium are good at palying their instruments, travis is a real good drummer and if he is leaving im sure he will be missed.yeah the crusade was different to ascendancy, but it was still a good album and shogun was a real good album.and im 23 to be honest every young band these days get so much shit, from keyboard cowboys ,they are all going to find it hard to be around in years to come when large numbers of people on the internet at least seem to have an issue with any young band thats gets a bit popular.
i did some investigating and its cos he is getting married or having a kid or something. he isnt leaving he is just taking a break so calm down everyone
first of all, i think i agree with everyone else saying if you dont like trivium dont fucking comment……..(what fucking douchebags)…..second ill be 23 next month, and im a huge trivium fan, i would actually go as far to say that they are the “metallica” of today. there sound, techniques, etc. are unique. matt has gone far with his voice, and the guitar work is fucking amazing. ember to inferno, acendancy, the crusade, and shogun are all awesome albums, i really cant say that there is a song by them that i dont like, and most of the 15 year old kids are listening to the nickelbacks, fall out boys, and theory of a deadmans………..there is something that those bands have in common that most of these metal bands dont…….sell outs, repetition, etc. so i really suggest that you take a listen to some real metal before you piss off to many of these people and they find you. anyways…………..trivium rules
hey charlie i wanted to add something to your multiple choice question…………….or E: or there EMO
first off, age has nothing to do with appreciating good music. just an opinion, but trivium is a pretty decent band, as i have grown older listening to overkill, pantera, sepultura, and exodus. trivium is just as good these days as the best bands in the past ever were. travis u will be missed. i hope trivium keeps spinning out the music we all love to thrash to.
I love Trivium personally, I thought their first album was alright, the second was good, hated the third and thought Shogun was their best. They really progressed with that album, not only do the songs sound fucking sick, they’re much more technical and sound more like metal than hardcore.
All this shit about little kids listening to them is bullshit, I’m 19 but who cares how old you are?
And then there is the bullshit about people who listen to bands like Trivium don’t like/ know real metal.
I listen to Anaal Nathrakh, Cephalic Carnage, Cryptopsy (not their new album *shudders*), Necrophagist, Prostitute Disfigurement etc.
Those bands play the most extreme types of metal around. But I also listen to Eminem, Evol Intent, Spor, Wu Tang Clan, shit even a bit of Justin Timberlake!
My point is (I know I’m going on), you can’t judge someone for liking a band just because you don’t like them. I mean, I doubt some of the people being dicks here have heard of half the first bands I listed and they are fucking heavy, yet look at the other shit I listed too!
But, if they decide to ignore that all I can say is:
If you think they’re so shit and you think you know what you’re talking about, try and do what they’re doing.
Or
Shut the fuck up.
Thank you Rory.
its been confirmed on trivium’s myspace that travis smith has officially left the band and has been replaced by nick augusto
I heard travis and ratboy from etid were getting together with phil collins to do a full blown percussion album can’t wait!
wtf do you mean who cares!?!?! theres so many trivium fans that actually care. Agusto is great but travis was just amazing. some nerve to say who cares you’d be surprised
Ok im 16 and i really like Trivium, ok The Crusade album only had a few good songs on but they are still an amazing band so its a shame that Travis left. and there are pictures of Nick with the band
I think Travis Smith should play with Avenged Sevenfold since the Rev is dead.
