Velvet Revolver Reunite For Hollywood Concert
Yeah, you read that right. After years of new singer rumours, speculation and a really, really shitty Christmas song from Scott Weiland, the original members of Velvet Revolver reunited last night for a special gig in Hollywood!
Velvet Revolver reunited with original singer Scott Weiland last night (Thursday 12) for a special concert at the House Of Blues in Hollywood, California – and now a cryptic message on the band’s official site shows that something more longterm might just be in the pipeline…
The unlikely reunion came about as a part of the ‘Love You Madly: A Concert For John O’ Brien’ in tribute to award-winning ASCAP composer John O’Brien, who was found dead in his Chicago hotel room last August.
“Because we hadn’t played with Scott in a long time I said, ‘Look, let’s just do three songs.’,” said Velvet Revoler guitarist Dave Kushner to Rolling Stone. “It’s not too much of a commitment, so we just got a bunch of people, everyone will do three songs.”
“We haven’t played together in four years, and so we’re really just like, ‘Let’s see how this goes.’ I know everyone’s got other commitments, but I think everyone’s like, ‘Let’s get this thing done and get through this and then we’ll see.’”
The band’s setlist was as follows:
01. Sucker Train Blues
02. She Builds Quick Machines
04. Wish You Were Here (PINK FLOYD cover)
Since then, this message has appeared on the band’s official website. After four years and a whole album’s worth of material recorded with Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor lying hidden in a vault somewhere, could we see Scott come back to the fold after all?! Those crazy rockstars. We’ll keep you posted.
