One of the best live performances I’ve ever seen. I thought they kicked ass at Reading 2007, but last night blew it away.

If he’s not careful he’ll be remembered more for his insults and trash talk than for his band.

Janes Addiction were boring, I didn’t hear a complimentary comment from anyone in the crowd. NIN were pretty good (I saw them at a festival in Australia about 9 years ago and thought they were better), but the O2 sucks the life out of any performance – it’s a soulless cave. Never again – apart from the fact it’s in the arse-end of the world!

nin last night were nothing but amazing and tbh so was janes addiction the fact that Gary Numan turned up to do metal and cars was the icing on the cake I was up in the seating area but boy we were all singing along they waved goodbye in style and its a shame that Trent is saying goodbye.

Truly a band we will all miss and will be remembered for many generations to come!

Right. That’s why when his Ghosts album hit with it’s multitude of packages, their website crashed from all of the traffic and they sold out of all 2500 of their $300 deluxe packages in 48 hours. People really just wanted to give Trent a headache and crash his website because he sucks.

Perhaps…but Trent Reznor could work his ass off for a full year and not make the kind of money Gene Simmons does with KISS in a week…so i wouldnt be suprised if its the clown (Gene) in his make up entertaining fans that is having the last laugh…

I don’t care how talented or popular a band or person is. Kiss and particularly Gene Simmons sucks. He is an old man who goes out there and covers up his wrinkled face with paint and thinks he is still cool. He has no artistic integrity or else he wouldn’t go out and parade Kiss on the American Idol finale performing with the runner up Adam Lambert. His music is simplistic and not even in the same league as Trent Reznor.

Pete – I love how you missed my point and then actually made it for me. Just because 2500 boxsets sold out in two days, it doesn’t mean it’s of decent quality. Knowing how big a tool Trent is, it might’ve just been a bunch of his farts being remixed. So it actually proves everything, because something selling out quickly is in no way related to quality.

Jay – correct, and comparitively, NIN aren’t popular in the slightest. My point is that he can have a go at Fred Durst and Marilyn Manson because they are on a similar career plateau, but he doesn’t have the right to take on Gene Simmons. I hate all of them, but even I know that the little moody twat-child first year doesn’t take on the head boy. Meh, anyway, I don’t care, I’ll be drinking when NIN are on.

This is to Me, first off if it wasn’t for pioneering industrial acts such as NIN or Ministry, then Fear Factory would have been dismissed as another shitty nu Metal act. And while admittedly he wouldn’t make much more money then Gene Simmons would in a week if you actually bothered to read an interview with Trent Reznor, your tiny brain cells, would know, that hes not in it for the fucking money. So please, unless your actually going to give me a genuine reason why people shouldn’t care about NIN, respect other peoples opinions, and respect the fact that after 20 years of hard work and sacrifice Trent Reznor, can be free to state his own opinion, and more importantly respect your elders.

1 – NIN were formed in 1988, the year before Fear Factory, so I very much doubt they had much effect. Plus, that argument has never ever made any sense. It’s like saying that if I came and took a pee on your lawn, then taking a dump there the next day would seem more acceptable. No. Also, Fear Factory did what is the definitive cover of ‘Cars’, 11 years ago. Maybe Fear Factory paved the way for that…

2 – Korn are generally considered one of, if not the, first Nu Metal bands. They formed in 1993, a full 5 years after Fear Factory. The term Nu Metal (or New Metal as it was initially) wasn’t used until 1995. So I can’t imagine anyone could mistake them for Nu Metal.

3 – Learn the difference between ‘then’ and ‘than’. My “…tiny brain cells…” have clearly taken some information in over the years.

4 – Learn the difference between ‘your’ and ‘you’re’. See above.

5 – He is allowed an opinion and yes, is free to articulate it. However, he should learn a few little things called humility and respect. Humility for knowing that people, foolish as they are, seem to care about the garbage that he spouts and who he thinks is “…a clown…” this week. Respect for the bands who helped open people’s minds to his end of the spectrum (remember your first point?), and…

6 – …respect for his elders! How can you use that against me, when I’m pointing out how much of an assclown the guy is for disrespecting his elders?

To be honest you’re never gonna win because Trents fans seem to have the blind loyalty which allows him to get away with this. And like you said, he can have his opinion – no problem with that. If he doesnt like the guy or doesnt respect what he’s doing thats fine. But openly broadcasting his view to the world, baring in mind that both Gene and (to a mixed extent) Marilyn Manson have brought joy to other people, without ANY victim what so ever, is both unnecasery and unkind.

Sounds like a pussy remark but to be honest its the truth. There are people who deserve to be criticised more than entertainers who are (or where) good at what they do.

If they started today they would go nowhere. Before we had the internet and other media sources people’s information was very limited. Today we have a very large talent pool that is very easily seen and heard. It’s pretty pathetic that you people equate success with how much money someone makes. The poster named “Me” thinks that he or she is the smartest kid in the room when in reality they are just an average person that has no true concept of business or the world. In the end, KISS will be known for nothing other than a long running band, Trent Reznor will be seen as someone that changed the industry (regardless of what you think about his music his business practices are far better than any other band) for the better.

This isn’t fucking Heat magazine or whatever, who cares if one public figure insults another, you don’t all need to pitch in your own opinion, knowing that you’ll be challenged on it.

NIN’s worst music is a million times better than KISS’s best. KISS were out there to sell records. Trent… his music is emotional (no, not fucking emo, call NIN emo and I will hurt you), thoughtful. Heard and all that could have been? I’d stake a claim to it being NIN’s most emotional song. Up there with hurt. KISS’s best song (in my opinion) is God Of Thunder. Where’s the meaning, the emotion? Gene Simmons; clearly in it for the money only. Go put your old man face on another t-shirt Gene. Leave the music to Trent.

I’m not on either of their sides regarding this situation, but Trent Reznor has more musical talent in his little finger than KISS have in their collective bodies. The man is a genius.
