Your chance to have your say on the super-group’s self-titled album.
After all of the hype, was it worth the wait? Should we be bowing down at the alter of Grohl, Homme and Jones or is it all much ado about nothing?
Have your say in our comments section and we’ll discuss them on this week’s Metal Hammer podcast. Click here to subscribe to the Metal Hammer Podcast and hear your views on Slayer’s ‘World Painted Blood’.

It’s good but it’s nowhere near the sum of it’s parts. Sounds like a QOTSA album with dave grohl playing drums.
Anyone bothering to listen to this album probably has some Kyuss, QOTSA, Nirvana, Foo’s & Zeppelin CD’s as it is.
They should save themselfs the hassle of buying this average album, and just listen to what came before.
It’s good but I can definitely say it’s not great. Once again a supergroup disappoints. Don’t know why we really expected anything different? They do just sound like QOTSA+Foo’s+Zep. Dave Grohl needs to go back to his metal roots, more stuff in a Probot vein please.
Reptiles is a stand out track though. The simple twiddly riff is hypnotic.
Utter shash. It sounds like the last couple of QOTSA albums, minus the decent tracks, of which there’s been very few. Stick to your day jobs guys. Apart from Grohl, because it’s nice to hear a Grohl project without you shouting all over it.
Its out? better go have a listen.
“Sounds like a QOTSA album with dave grohl playing drums.”
Doesnt one of the QOTSA albums have grohl playing drums on it?
Snakepit – Yep, ‘Songs For The Deaf/Dead’ (I can never remember which is the album and which is the track). Basically, the one decent QOTSA album…
Its ok, however most of its nothing new and ironically its boring stuff we’ve heard before too.
have you ever tried eating bacon, ice cream and pancakes together? They all taste great individually, and fuck combining two of those would also taste pretty damn good, but all three? now that’s a bit much
For who the band members are, the music is boring. It feels like a bunch of rejected Queens of the Stone Age songs.
an average album, not as good as anything by led zepplin/QOSTA and Kyuss/ Foo Fighters and Nirvana
I actually quite like it. Sure, it’s not eactly too special, but it fills a certain niche between QOTSA, Kyuss and Foos. I would have expected more from the 3 of them but what they’ve produced is good.
havnt heard it, but I stray from supergroups because for most of the part its self-indulgent and usauly a huge letdown for those who drooled over the hype in the first place.
its QOSTA with a better rythem section basicly
lits good but not as good as it could have been
shit, all messy and…shit
i’m gonna throw it out there and say i loved the album
It sounds as you’d expect – a more Led Zeppeliny Queens of the Stone Age. Where could you go wrong with that?? Awesome album, Homme’s best work since Lullabies to Paralyze.
I FUCKING LOVED IT
its the epic drums of grohl perfectly matched with the voice of josh
its like a creepy weird “welcome to wonderland” style of music
its great i want to get it assap
i missed the sound of daves drumming and its a welcome return
I dont know what you guys are saying i cant get enough of queens and with dave on drums and jpj , so the similarities arent a bad thing for me, great songwriters doing this for the sake of music, i think its great but hey you cant please everybody
@Moshtank …Sony Music? Is that you?
Like most supergroups their albums are generally overhyped but this is a good album and i think it has a good mix from all three members
“Supergroups” dissapoint because the expecations they have. If they were bands you didn’t know any of the members of people would be hailing them as the next big thing. Sometimes it works the reverse the music is such shit but the members are so well known people are afraid to say it sucks. Audioslave and Velvet Revolver always had such mixed reviews
What do you prefer a twix or a boost?
Some people on this site arent going to like this band because its not metal. Its hard / classic / desert rock. and thats fair enough, each to their own. Some people will think it sucks, other will think its awesome.
Its the kind of album that takes time to sink in because theres so much going on. Again, some people love that about music, some dont, Metal or not.
On my first listen I thought it was great, but with multiple listens it gets better and better.
Personally and as a big qotsa and led zep fan, this is exactly what i was hoping for. The epic Queens feel with a splash of Led for good measure.
I LOVE THIS ALBUM! cant get enough of some seriously infectious song like Scumbag Blues, Reptiles and Elephants.
Spinning In Dafodils is an absolute masterpiece.
Thanks Dave, Josh and John, Youve made the best album iv heard in a VERY long time.
