This is crap. Their record company brought in “song doctors” who started altering songs that AEROSMITH had already written for mainstream consumption. Unfortunately this was part of contract for Aerosmith and they continue to be an awesome band. Filling stadiums more based on their earlier tracks anyway. Which Zakk Wylde could not do off his own back. He’s way too mediocre as a musician for me and hasn’t come up with anything incredibly memorable. Jealous much?

He guests because people want him on their record through respect…those bands wrote the riffs and then asked him.

Here here!! Finally someone in the industry who has the balls to back up what they say put it out there. I gained a whole world of respect for Zakk once he got Black label Society up and running. All his songs. 7 albums in 10 years these days is an AMAZING feet. i dare anyone to challenge that.

I hafta agree wit Zakk on this. And the thing earlier bout someone guesting on an album, its a guest appearance on one song, and their credited wit it. Wit song ‘doctors’ its the bands name on songs that weren written for them!!

I agree with the sentiments, but Ozzy’s found himself in the same catagory as Aerosmith for years and years.

Much respect for Zakk Wylde for coming out and saying it, but has he looked at the writing credits on the last few Ozzy albums? When an established artist starts using outside songwriters it does suggest that they don’t quite know how to write songs like they used to anymore – after all, everybody moans about the winners of The X-Factor just singing somebody elses stuff. Ozzy and Aerosmith have been using outside songwriters for years to try and give them more mainstream appeal, and on the surface it works, but when it comes down to it they’ve probably alienated a lot of their core fanbase by continually turning out the same pop-tinged tripe over and over. To be honest, Ozzy hasn’t made an album that could be called great since No More Tears – and Lemmy wrote a lot of that, along with a great backing band – and Aerosmith since Get a Grip. Duets with Britney Spears (Aerosmith) and a wife/manager who mistakenly believes that Ozzy IS Black Sabbath and that half-arsed cover versions played on the Royal Variety show are the way forward for a rock legend don’t really do a lot for credibilty amongst your fans.

I think it should be mentioned that Zack HAS in fact had a go at the fact there are outside song writters on recent Ozzy albums; i have an interview with him bemoaning this when ‘Down to Earth’ was released.

I also really Like Aerosmith, Does it matter if the music is written by someone else, if It sounds good and you Enjoy it? Although is true to an extent that Their better material was in the Drug years.

However Doesnt it make Zakk as Bitchy as Britney Spears throwing random comments round like this? Seriously why do Musicians feel need to chuck shit around leave that to Pop/ Movie stars.

I like Zakk but I get a bit bored of his alpha-male, macho crap. Just when you think he’s a nice bloke he tends to put his foot right in his gob (spouting off about his right to own guns just after his close friend was murdered on-stage was a bit tasteless). The first thing I thought when reading his rant was “Jesus Christ, take a hard look at your boss!! Ozzy hasn’t written a decent song on his own in decades” and a lot of other people posting here picked up on that too. I agree that Aerosmith have gone off the boil seriously since “Get A Grip” but you could debate the same for Zakk. I personally don’t think he’s done anything overly brilliant since Pride & Glory.

Stop twisting his words, he didn’t say “Aerosmith are as phoney as britney spears” he said “If you can’t write songs you’re as phoney as Britney Spears”.

who cares if Aerosmith got Desmond Child to help write a few songs. Desmond Child is awesome, he helped write Bon Jovi’s Slippery When Wet, that album is sick as. Ozzy on the other hand doesn’t even write his own shit. Geezer Butler and Tony Iommi wrote all of Black Sabbath while he was in the band and Bob Daisley/Geezer Butler and Randy Rhoads/Jake E. Lee/Zakk Wylde wrote all of Ozzy’s good solo shit. The last few records have been mediocre at best
