Morbid Angel frontman David Vincent was arrested yesterday and charged for a weapons offence…after the Italian police confiscated his bullet belt.
After police in Italy had checked Vincent’s luggage and found the belt, 15-20 armed officers lead the Morbid Angel singer to a holding cell where he was questioned for two and a half hours.
“I asked them again and again if they were kidding but they said no,” said a shell-shocked Vincent to Metal Hammer’s own Joel McIver. “The belt is obviously not made of real bullets. Metal is clearly not fashionable in the fashion centre of Europe.”
The bullet belt was given to Vincent in 1989 to celebrate his band signing with Earache.
My comment is this,” said Vincent in summary. “For 20 years I’ve had my same friendly bullet-belt with me at all metal occasions. After 20 years of being a lawless individual, I’m happy that the Keystone Kops of spaghetti western fame have been able to show me the error of my ways.”
