Lamb Of God On The New Cover Of Metal Hammer!
They’re big. They’re bad. They’re back. They’re Lamb Of Oh My Fucking God. Find out more about the incredible free Bloodstock calendar, plus Metallica, KISS, Motley Crue, Testament, Zakk Wylde and much, much more!
Ladies, stop your grinnin’ and drop your linen. LAMB OF OH MY FUCKING GOD are back, and with new album ‘Resolution’, they’ve reminded us once again why there is no one – and we mean no one – who can make us bang our fucking heads like they can. In our ferocious new issue which includes a massive FREE BLOODSTOCK CALENDAR, LOG frontman Randy Blythe takes on the haters with all the bile-fuelled venom we know and love him for, as he and the rest of the band talk in depth about the effect that the internet – and the keyboard warriors it has produced – has had on the music industry, human relations and even society itself.
LAMB OF GOD might well be packing the first great album of 2012, but for now, it’s also time to look back at what has been an incredible year for metal with our 2011 CRITICS’ POLL! We polled the finest minds in our field (plus the Metal Hammer team) to bring you the definitive end-of-year list for a twelve-month face-melter that brought the likes of ‘Unto The Locust’, ‘Worship Music’, ‘The Hunter’, ‘Five Serpent’s Teeth’ and so much more. Who made it to album of the year? You know there’s only one way to find out.
Not bad, right? Well, there’s a hell of a lot more. As well as Lamb Of God, our mega free Bloodstock calendar and that beast of a poll, we’re still packing more heavyweights than a WWE orgy, including thrash icons TESTAMENT, who open up about one of the most anticipated albums of 2012 in ‘The Dark Roots Of Earth’, and KISS legend GENE SIMMONS, who discusses God, groupies and settling down with his new wife (did we really just write that last part?). We also find out exactly what went down in Delhi when METALLICA’s first ever Indian concert descended into chaos, chatting with the band themselves as well as asking one of Indian metal’s most respected ambassadors what the hell happened on that mad night.
UK power metal heroes DRAGONFORCE are on the verge of making their triumphant return official with a new album, so we headed to their personal studio to listen to the new record and give it our two cents (HINT: it’s well solo-ey). Apparently, ZAKK WYLDE likes a bit of guitar as well, so we sat the legendary axeman down with new JUDAS PRIEST shredder Richie Faulkner for a chinwag about life as “the new guy” in one of the biggest metal bands of all time – something Zakk once knew all too well about.
Like death metal? Love CANNIBAL CORPSE. We chart the incendiary back catalogue of one of the most iconic, influential and gore-splattered death metal bands of them all, as well as get our thrash on with NY hardcore mob THIS IS HELL, who have stunned us all with their drastic change of style and one of the most gnarly albums of 2011.
Plus, we sit down with Canadian punk icons RISE AGAINST to talk politics, the future and why the world is, to be honest, pretty fucked up right now, and while Brutal Pennsylvanian metalcore crew AUGUST BURNS RED aren’t fucked up themselves, they’re pretty fucking heavy and, as we soon discover, defiantly stepping away from trends.
Oh, and we also ask Mötley Crüe’s NIKKI SIXX to dish the dirt on his most sordid stories. Needless to say, it’s an eye-waterer.
Reviews this month include the epic new Greatest Hits package from RAMMSTEIN, the special B-sides release from DISTURBED, the new re-release from PARADISE LOST and the new MOTÖRHEAD DVD, as well as explosive live shows from MANOWAR, DIMMU BORGIR, LACUNA COIL, THE DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT and WITHIN TEMPTATION.
Finally, we head underground with Subterranea as we speak with bizarre thrash legends VOIVOD, jazz metal maniacs SHINING, the ever-controversial MORBID ANGEL and black metal veterans GORGOROTH.
All this plus new blood from THE COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF, CARCER CITY, SWORN AMONGST, SKULL FIST and more metal than you can thrown the horns at?
Why the fuck haven’t you bought your copy yet?!
