Metal Hammer’s 25th Anniversary Issue Is Here!
Metal Hammer is 25 years old this month, and this is our very special 25th Anniversary Edition! Our biggest issue ever features a massive 164 pages of heavy fucking metal and a brand-new look, and to celebrate, we pay tribute to METALLICA bassist Cliff Burton who was tragically killed the year Hammer was born: on the cover and with an extensive feature with new interviews with his friends and comrades from ANTHRAX, MEGADETH and FAITH NO MORE amongst others.
Also in celebration of our 25 years, Hammer takes a retrospective look at the heaviest stories of two and a half decades: GUNS N’ ROSES split, METALLICA cut their hair, Bruce leaves IRON MAIDEN and all the biggest stories of our lifetime!
And, as a thank you to YOU, the tireless metal hordes, we are giving away an incredibly special MACHINE HEAD 10” collectors vinyl featuring brand new music and two live tracks! (UK only, the US get a 15 track CD of some of the biggest metal anthems from the last 25 years!)
Also in this issue:
We take an in-depth look at the 90s – was it in fact a great decade for metal? – plus Sabbath legend TONY IOMMI gets sentimental as he talks about spilling the beans for his autobiography, and MANOWAR’s Joey DeMaio brings us up to speed with the most metal band in history.
There are brand new and revealing interviews with SLIPKNOT (talking about the making of ‘Iowa’), ICED EARTH and – yes – WILLIAM ‘CAPTAIN KIRK’ SHATNER (about collaborating with ZAKK WYLDE, obviously). Hammer also talks to WILL HAVEN, comedian BILL BAILEY, AMEBIX, ABSU, THE FUCKING WRATH, and STEEL PANTHER quiz former GUNS N’ ROSES drummer Steven Adler on sex, drugs and rock’n’roll.
Want more? CRADLE OF FILTH’s Dani Filth writes for Hammer on metal vs The Church and we speak to DISTURBED’s David Draiman about the freeing of the West Memphis Three. DIMMU BORGIR’s Silenoz reveals his favourite albums, Dez Fafara discusses what the rebirth of COAL CHAMBER means for DevilDriver and MALEFICE‘s Dale Butler gets his tatts out..
Plus – ‘LULU’ REVIEWED (and it ain’t pretty) and more reviews from SLIPKNOT, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, MEGADETH, CATHEDRAL, ICED EARTH, MANOWAR and STEEL PANTHER.
And from the depths, in this month’s Subterranea: CANNIBAL CORPSE, NINE COVENS, OBAKE, VALLENFYRE, ABSU, THE DEVIL’S BLOOD, THE ROTTED, SOLSTAFIR, PRIMORDIAL, HATE, INQUISITION and more!
Metal Hammer’s 25th Anniversary: We’re only just getting started.
