Dallas Coyle Officially Out Of God Forbid

After electing not to join his band mates on their upcoming tour, it has been confirmed that Dallas Coyle has quit God Forbid.

Coyle’s brother, and fellow axe-man Doc Coyle, has confirmed that he has indeed left the band and will be replaced, at least temporarily, by former Darkest Hour shredder, Kris Norris.

In a statement, Doc Coyle explains: “There have been a barrage of rumours and questions on whether or not Dallas has left God Forbid; It’s true that Dallas has left the band. It’s taken us a few days to confirm this definitely, and figure out what we were going to do considering the fact that we are starting a very important tour with Lamb of God this week.

“I don’t want to go into the hairy details, but all I can say is that there was a mutual disagreement between Dallas and I, and the disagreement became angry on both sides, and he decided to sit out the tour the day we were supposed to leave. We later learned he did not want to tour anymore at all. Everyone in the band, including myself was upset and shocked. For me, it’s a lot tougher because he’s my brother and I have a very close bond with him. We’ve done everything together our whole lives, so it’s difficult to deal with emotionally but I understand he has bigger responsibilities at home to care for. I wish he would’ve handled it in a different way, but I am not angry at him for leaving if he is unhappy with our situation. I really hope he finds success and happiness in his future pursuits.

“In the meantime, we’ve recruited ex-Darkest Hour shredder, Kris Norris, to fill in for the tour. We are currently doing a few warm up shows as a 4 piece to meet the Lamb Of God tour in Phoenix, AZ on April 2nd. Kris will be there for the start of the LOG tour though. I’ve been friends with Kris for years, and have an immense amount of respect for his playing. I look forward to playing with him, and I’m sure he will knock it out the park! Byron and I will pick up the slack with the vocals as much as we can. Thanks for everyone’s continued support, and we’ll see you on the road!”

You can find some particularly ominous comments from Dallas in this months issue of Metal Hammer, on sale now.

God Forbid are heavily rumored to be appearing at this years Download Festival.

to be honest, i think this is a good thing for the band. I’ve always thought that God Forbid had great potential as a band, with some heavy-ass riffs, but they were always let down by Dallas’ clean vocals, which quite frankly make them unlistenable at times. I mean, I’ve got their album IV: Constitution of Treason, and there are some terrible moments on that album because of his vocals. Check out Welcome to the Apocolypse…awful song.

They’re better off without him, providing they don’t just find a replacement that does the same thing as he did….ruin a potentially awesome band

This sucks kind of mainly due to his guitar playing abilities. The new album Earthsblood is fuckin awesome, however I have to agree with Barry (what a metal name!) above about the clean vocals at times…it’s a good job most of them were followed by a breakdown to make up for it =D good luck to the GF dudes and hope they manage to recruit someone with an awesome fuckin voice as well as havin the ability Dallas had on guitar. They’ll remain one of my favourite bands! METAL!

Good Guitarist!
Awful Vocalist!
I mean is it necessary to destroy a bunch of great songs with that kind of shitty vocals!?

The Beast

Guy sucked. Good riddance.

yeah, singing totally sucked…go back to determination and out of misery days!

i have been following GodForbid for a long time and always loved the main line wich included Dallas Coyle among many great guitarist before him he has made a remarkable name for him self. To find that he has quit the band is a very sad peice of information that i have heard and hope that one day he’ll collide forces once again with the band and become Kick Ass once more. Dallas, rest well my friend
