ffdp_90Hammer Deputy Editor Caren Gibson heads into the pit to check out one of te weekend’s best upcoming bands who are popping their Download cherry…

Caren: Yeah OK, I’m slightly biased as I absolutely adore these guys on a personal level since they opened the Hammer-sponsored Defenders Of The Faith II tour headlined by Lamb Of God in February. I was keen to get onsite early to see if the buzz they created on that tour was a fluke or if the momentum has been building since then. But in true Saturday-morning-on-the-main-stage at Download style – see: Trivium in 2005, Down in 2006, Hellyeah in 2007, Skindred in 2008 – the knuckle heads are out IN FORCE for pure metal aggression. The circle pit kicks off in ma-hoo-ssive fashion before they’ve even torn into set opener Ashes.

It’s a short and brutal set but 5FDP know exactly how to deliver maximum impact in minimum time, sticking to crowd favourites and hardest hitting material such as The Way Of The Fist, Salvation and White Knuckles. With a new album on the way in September, these guys have got everything going in their favour to push them to the same levels of success as Disturbed or Korn.

Check out pics from Five Finger Death Punch’s set on the official Download website.

“popping their Download cherry…”

…Wow…

Pandora

Felt that FFDP deserved a longer show, however they were brillaint and I was glad I saw them cause they made the day for me ^.-.^

[...] Five Finger Death Punch [...]

“…same levels of success as Disturbed or Korn.”
Why those two? I personally prefer the “Pantera mudwrestling with Slipknot” description, I think they’re too brutal to resemble Disturbed or Korn at all.
