Hey the cover of Walk isn’t THAT bad!

M’s voice is quite well suited to it I think, and not too disimilair to Phil’s (yes he’s not as agressive but, granted both are vocalists with a decent range), and the guitars are pretty much spot on.

What’s not to like?

Besides, there’ve been covers (Pantera or otherwise) MUCH much worse than A7X’s…

Although it would’ve been nice to hear someone else’s take on Walk as opposed to pinching what K! did before

In my opinion, it might be Dimebag Darrel’s Tribute but that song should be for him and mike from Evile

its ashame them both are passed away but they did there jobs to love us(Fans) and love what they desired to do in their lifes and thats playing Heavy Fucking Metal

i’m looking forward to the chimaira track the most, ’slaughtered’ definitely suits them. aborted’s version is cool too. i heard chimaira play ‘walk’ a few years ago too, it was better than a7x’s version although i think they did a good effort. i know its been used by kerrang before but lets not forget this is a pantera/dimebag tribute and im sure a7x are honoured to be included on it.

now then metal hammer, any chance of a tribute to chuck schuldiner sometime? its the 8th anniversary of his death this month too, so maybe one year could we get a chuck tribute cd?

Avenged Sevenfold’s cover of Walk is pretty decent in my opinion. Although would have liked to have seen a couple different songs instead of that one again. Maybe a cover of 5 Minutes Alone by someone like Killswitch Engage. Also would have been interested in seeing bands like Slayer, Megadeth and Metallica do a cover.

why the fuck is Avenged Sevenfold on there? that is one of the worst covers of Pantera. couldnt you have got Devildriver to do it? some pretty awesome bands on this Cd but then Avenged Sevenfold makes me to not want to buy it.

i think Chimaira’s cover of Slaughtered might be pretty good but i dont think anyone could beat Aborted’s cover of it. thats pure epic in a can.

also have to agree that Lamb Of God and Devildriver shouldve been on here, both have obvious Pantera influences. its still a shitload better than anything kerrang couldve done tho!

A7x is just awful…just an awful cover. Evile will do a good job of CG as well im sure…mikes last recording as well!

FFDP will be ok, Machine Head will be incredible! Malefice… ok band but will be just a too screamy cover.

Shame you couldnt have gotten maybe some better songs…. Cowboys from hell is a must. Art of Shredding, Heresy – maybe some classics that dont get covered all the time… Thanks for not putting the BFMV cover in tho!

Oh God, I’m so glad Slaughtered is on there, it’s always been one of my favourite Pantera tunes (Along with Drag the Waters) and if anyone could pull off a cover of it, Chimaira can.

I’m sick of you people ragging the out. Yes, it’s not the greatest cover in the world and they won’t ever sound remotely like Pantera, but no one else will. I have heard many worse covers of Walk in my day, so compared to all them, Avenged Sevenfold has actually done a really good job on this one.

As for the other songs, I cant wait to hear, 5FDP, Machine Head, Zakk Wylde and This Is Hell. All in all, nice setlist!

Hatebreed would have been a far better choice to cover Walk. In fact, I saw A7X do Walk a few years ago at Ozzfest and that pussy M Shadows couldn’t even sing it, Jamey Jasta had to come and save him. So.. Substitute Hatebreed into “Walk” and put A7X on a Brittney Spears cover album or something..

Pretty cool. I’m a bit disappointed with the choice of bands, though, since Machine Head and Evile are the only really good bands on there.

It is F**ked I cant get a copy of this issue or cd anywhere in Australia. I have heard a couple of tracks on youtube and it sounds sick, every song i have head is a great tribute to Dime.
