Sonisphere Reviews: The Used & Bjorn Again

sonispherereal_90Did Bjorn Again get pelted yesterday at Sonisphere? Find out here!

The Used
“An Abba tribute act playing a Metallica song…BOOOO!” shouts The
Used’s Bert McCracken (sic). He’s right, but the truth is, Bjorn Again
are probably getting a better response here than Bert’s band. There’s
no booing or bottles but this is a weak performance from the Utah
band. ‘Taste Of Ink’s vocal delivery is so poor, than you can hear the
7 people singing it back more than Mr McCracken.  “I wanna say this
from the bottom of my heart…KISS MY ASS!!!” is the parting soundbite
from McCracken, but by that time everyone seems so bored they’ve
pissed off anyway. Fail.

Bjorn Again
We challenge anyone to find a stranger, more out of place festival
booking anywhere this Summer. According to the announcement prior to
Bjorn Again taking the stage, Metallica are the ones who asked them to
appear at Sonisphere today! The sight of thousands of metalheads
dancing to ‘Gimme Gimme Gimme’ (sic) and ‘Waterloo’ is quite
interesting to say the least, but if we’re honest it’s fucking balls.
But we don’t see a single bottle thrown and their cover of ‘Enter
Sandman’ gets the  biggest early day cheer.

This Bjorn Again review is what’s ‘fucking balls’. So yeah, they’re not a heavy metal band but to write them off as being crap is a complete injustice. It’s true that you either like the songs or you don’t but you can’t deny the level of musicianship and the fact that they put on a good show. And as for their cover of Enter Sandman- bjorn nailed the solo note for note without even breaking a sweat- there’s a reason the crowd were loving it.

As a big metal fan, I can safely say I enjoyed Bjorn Again much more than some of the dull, repetitive acts on the lineup. It was cheesy but it was fun and surely that’s why we were all there- to have a good time.

I was dissapointed by Bjorn Again… I was expecting a complete metal makeover, not just Abba songs being played with a guitar. They sounded almost exactly the same as Abba. I left after the first song and went to see Anthrax who were way more worth my time.

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don’t know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

+1 to Captain A. Just because a band isn’t metal, doesn’t mean it can’t be a laugh. I thought Anthrax were mint at Soni, but doesn’t stop Bjorn Again being quality too. It was great to see everyone just roll with the music, and the smiles on many many metalheads faces were immense. I, for one, certainly ranked them about people like The Used and Limp Bizkit.

wow, u guys a really major dicks. i love metal but the used are my fave band and really i think they deserve better then this, cause for a guy that had sugary on his throat ,berts a pretty damn good singer. now argue about that cause it really amuses me xD
