The irresistible Fuel Girls talk to Hammer about their forthcoming trip on the Gumball Rally with Lemmy and Avenged Sevenfold!

Metal Hammer recently caught up for a messy drinking session with the delectable Fuel Girls. In amongst getting wild, we thought it would only be just and fair to ask them about their upcoming trek on the Gumball Rally! Check it out below.

A gumball rally then. What’s one of those when it’s at home?

Lara: “The Gumball is a annual event. Each year around 120 cars take part driving 3000 miles across continents, taking between 5 and 7 days. The cars that take part are mostly rare super cars, custom rides and even souped up ice cream vans and it’s got a reputation for being pretty hardcore.”

“Lots of celebrities take part thinking its gonna be one long party, then realise it’s actually living hell as you drive through places like Serbia, Russia and Latvia with car-jackers trying to nick your car. There’s also driving for 12 hours a day with no sleep and the shit sat nav you’ve been ‘sponsored’ with takes you up and off a mountain to contend with. Saying that, it is also the experience of a lifetime and something you never, ever forget! Oh – and there are lots of rich people on it too, which is always good if you need to know someone with a private jet and a field of Arabian horses. In our case, that’s quite often.”

Helen: “Last year the Gumball ended in Korea, this year (it’s 11th) it will be going coast to coast starting in L.A and finishing in Miami!”

Tell us a little bit about the car you’re travelling in.

Lora: “We are doing the rally in two cars this year, ’cause all the Fuel Girls wanted to go and we’ve got some additional passengers! We are driving the ‘Fuel Girls’ Cadillac Seville which has the Fuel Girls painted on with Marylyn Monroe, complete with tattoos and fire! It is still being built by California Truck in Bakersfield and it’s only me that’s seen it as I had to fly over and oversee the painting. ”

“We are also taking a high lifted H2 SUT Hummer, so people better get the fuck out of our way cause Helens at the wheel and she’s fuckin’ hectic!”

Ok and who are your passengers?

Lora: “We are doing the first leg with Lemmy! He is a true rock star and a good friend. Lemmy suggested doing it in a tour bus ha ha! It’s the Gumball Rally – he can’t have all his home comforts!!”

Helen: “We are also taking Avenged Sevenfold except they are doing the whole Rally. We did plan to have a rock star car, so we chose Avenged for a few reasons… there aren’t that many bands around these days thats are really that rock and roll anymore and Avenged have definitely got that going on! They know how to party and they are going to be as much of a handful as us on the Rally!”

You and Lemmy are old friends by now, aren’t you?

Lora: “Fuel Girls toured with Motorhead last year and the moment we met Lemmy we said we’d have to take him on the Gumball with us! He’s gonna love it!”

Avenged are known for being pretty wild when it comes to partying do you think this could be a recipe for disaster when mixed with the fuel girls antics?

Helen: “I see trouble in our future, hahahaha! We always have a rough time whenever we are in the states and have been thrown out of our own gigs. You cant spill a fucking drink with out someone telling you to calm down so I’m placing bets on the parties getting pretty out of control!”

Lora: “Oh, 100%. Last time the Fuel Girls were in Vegas, we got thrown out of Carey Harts club, ‘Wasted Space’. The following night we go thrown out of our own party in LA by the police and it just seemed to keep happening! Oops! We are a bit wild to be honest and when we meet like-minded people it does seem to end with a huge drama!”

How are you planning to party within the confines of a car?

Lara: “We’ve had plenty of practise! I think we’ve had some of our best parties in the back of our Chevy tour van. Generally it involves hurting each other and bullying anyone that pussies out and falls asleep!”
